Choose the Correct Office

For county jail custody or a booking record, contact the office below. Records hours exclude official state holidays.

The sheriff publishes a $20 digital-photograph fee, $0.25 per page after ten pages, and clerical time at $35 per hour. Other staff time is charged at actual hourly compensation. Cash, check, and credit card are accepted, with a 2.5 percent card charge, and advance payment may be required. Review the current fee schedule before submitting a request.

• For a booking sheet or intake image, use the county search and records path, then submit a focused written request to the sheriff.
• For a recent arrest or release question, check the current jail PDF and Kansas VINE routes described on the home page. The PDF has no released-person history.
• For a warrant question, use Sheriff's Most Wanted, then contact the sheriff or Ellis District Court. No county warrant portal was verified.
• For a police incident, contact the city agency that made the report. Hays, Ellis, and Victoria each have their own police record custodian.
• For a filed case or disposition, contact Ellis County District Court at 107 West 12th Street, Hays, KS 67601, 785-628-9415, or Ellis_County_Clerk@kscourts.gov. Public hours are 8:00 a.m.-noon and 1:00-5:00 p.m.; public access closes at 4:30 p.m.
• For a sentenced Kansas prisoner and corrections photograph, use the Kansas Department of Corrections KASPER search. It is separate from county-jail custody.
• For federal or immigration detention, use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator or ICE detainee locator. Neither is an Ellis County booking feed.
